She found this statement in their policy guidelines describing the local architecture in a Summary of Special Interest …”a quirky, sometimes charming evocation of eccentric, independent ideas, and healthy disrespect for authority.” I love that so much, District Council guidelines that acknowledge ‘disrespect for authority’ as important to conserve!

]]> Comment on museums sheffield: the arts council funding fallout by Dan Feeney http://inatownsosmall.wordpress.com/2012/01/31/museums-sheffield-the-arts-council-funding-fallout/#comment-425 Sun, 12 Aug 2012 10:42:06 +0000 http://inatownsosmall.wordpress.com/?p=597#comment-425 hi lesley, i promise you that this isn’t a case of “them young uns” not knowing how to use punctuation and capital letters. if you have a flick through the rest of this blog you’ll spot that it is a stylistic choice to write fully in lower case, and one which i have to go back and check my own pieces on before publishing. i made the decision when i started this blog to experiment with just using lower case, and found that i quite liked the way that it settled things down on the page. rest assured, i am a bit of a pedant for a misplaced/unused capital letter in every other walk of life!

Whatever happened to capital letters for names and places and capital letters after a full stop?

Like all of you, I can’t bear the ‘aspirational’ images still remaining – a feeling exacerbated by watching the video on their website. A park would be wonderful… Failing that, I’d like to see its current plant-life continue to grow into a fully-fledged gated weed-jungle.
